Woman ⛓Arrested in Kajiado with Anti-🐍Snake Venom Used for Spiking 🍺Alcoholic Drinks

Police in Kitengela have arrested a woman with anti-snake venom believed to be used by those who spike alcoholic drinks. The drug, commonly known as 'mchele' (rice), has a devastating sleeping effect when taken with an alcoholic drink. Kitengela acting OCS Joseph Koskey said they believe Teresiah Mwikali has networks in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nakuru.

The officers recovered five sachets containing 10 bottles of 3ml each of the material labelled 'puff adder'. Koskey on Wednesday said the drug has a street value of Sh30,000. "We have established that she has been trading with this drug in the country’s major cities and towns," the officer said.

He said the arrest was a breakthrough following the many cases of victims who have been drugged and robbed of their property. "When the drug is laced on a drink, a victim is rendered motionless for close to 24 hours or even more," Koskey said. The suspect was arraigned in Kajiado and was charged with five counts of illegal possession of poison contrary to Section 26 (2) of the Pharmacy and Poisons Act.

Coast leaders to form there own party

Coast leaders will form their own political party to push for their people's development agenda. Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has also announced that the region will go it alone in the 2022 General Election. Speaking on Sunday during the homecoming party for new Mombasa ACK Bishop Alphonce Baya in Kilifi North, Kingi said discussions on the new party had begun.

Kingi said most of the problems affecting residents can only be addressed if the region has its own political party. “In 2022, we'll not join any party. We'll build our own house with enough bedrooms to accommodate all of us. Borrowing from others has brought us many problems,’’ Kingi said. The governor has been vocal on calls for secession of the region. He said the plans are still counting
